Shimane Prefecture

Shimane Prefecture is located next to the Sea of Japan, a three hour drive from Osaka. It is famous for being mentioned in the Kojiki, a collection of myths which chronicle the birth of Japan. Japanese people treasure Shimane as the country of gods and the location of Japan's most famous shrine, Izumo Grand Shrine. This place has lots of stories about Japan's history.
